Hello. The MacUpp SSD would not be compatible with the Early 2012 MacBook Pro. This is only compatible with the Late 2013-2015 models.

I haven’t noticed any battery performance loss but I replaced the battery about six months before the SSD failed. So, I might not be the best person to answer this question. The only noticeable difference I’ve seen is related to a slow boot situation. After power up, it takes about 15 seconds for the Apple logo to display before the boot sequence starts which isn’t a big deal.

Be certain you first upgraded the OS to the latest release as it establishes the firmware in the computer to recognize the new SSD. Next use time machine to back up you computer to a flash drive. Then install your SSD. Boot up and select to restore from your time machine flash drive.
